Congratulations to Michael Krumm and the Nismo GT500 team for going above and beyond at today’s qualifying and Super Lap and snatching pole position away from the hungry swam of NSXs. The MOTUL AUTECH #22 GT-R finished first in the super lap with a 1′55.155 ahead of two NSXs in second and third. The 4th grid spot also goes to a GT-R, the WOODONE ADVAN #24 GT-R.
The weather was cloudy but hot today and fortunately the rain held out and provided good conditions for everyone. Weight handicapped XANAVI #23 GT-R was not able to turn a competitive time in qualifying and ended up in last spot in the grid. Let’s see if GT-R’s can come back after Fuji in round 3 and take a win in tomorrow’s race! The grid is as follows:
1. MOTUL AUTECH #22 GT-R - 1′55.155
2. ARTA #1 NSX - 1′55.356
3. REAL #17 NSX - 1′55.443
4. WOODONE ADVAN Clarion #24 GT-R - 1′55.513
5. TAKATA #18 NSX - 1′55.613

GTRBlog.com (25/03/2008) - GTRBlog.com has received some more progress pictures of the Donut King R35 GT-R being prepared for the Targa Tasmania tarmac rally in April 2008. The car is being prepared by Just Jap in Kirrawee south of Sydney Australia.
This GT-R was actually the first R35 in Australia first being spied at the docks in January 2008 and at track testing at Oran Park shortly after that. It started off life as a white car but was quickly painted Donut King trademark pink and covered in signage.
In preparation for the event the team has fitted a full roll cage, Mine’s VX-ROM ECU, Mine’s Silence-VX PRO Titan II exhaust with Mine’s Super Catalyzer II cat convertors, Sparco racing seats and timing gear.
The have also performed some basic weight reduction in removing the door trims and rear seats.
